Tall Ship Sailing From Falmouth

Irene, Sea Sanctuary charity's historic tall ship

Event Date:

13th September 2022

Event Time:

1:00 pm

Event Location:

Sea Sanctuary Sail HQ

1pm–6.30pm

A networking event like no other…Enjoy luxury hospitality – sailing the stunning Cornish coastline on board historic tall ship, Irene – all topped off with a delicious supper cooked on board, by the ship’s chef.

No sailing experience is required but taking an active role in sailing the ship is encouraged! Expect to raise the sails, take the helm and haul up the anchor. There will, of course, be plenty of time to sit back, relax and chat too.

Itinerary:

1pm: Meet at Sea Sanctuary Sail HQ where you’ll be provided with life jackets and everything you need for the voyage (wet weather gear if needed). From here it’s a short boat ride to Irene’s swinging mooring where you’ll meet the crew and have a safety briefing.

2pm: The half-day (3 hour) sail sets off, exploring the Cornish coastline and the waterways and stunning scenery around the Carrick Roads.

5pm: Your freshly cooked supper is served with a glass of wine.

6.30pm: Disembark, having returned to Sea Sanctuary HQ via the water taxi

Sea Sanctuary is a mental health charity with sailing at the heart of its mental health and wellbeing services – ‘Irene’ is its beautiful tall ship which delivers all its sailing programmes. Built over a century ago, she is a 120ft gaffer and one of the last traditional West Country trading ketches sailing our seas. No stranger to luxury hospitality, the Irene is fully crewed with an experienced skipper, a first mate, a deckhand and of course, Sea Sanctuary’s onboard chef.

Sea Sanctuary offers experiences rooted in the blue health concept – a belief that being on or by water rejuvenates body and mind and reduces stress and anxiety in the most natural way. By choosing to sail with Sea Sanctuary in this way, you’ll be supporting adults and children in Cornwall who are struggling with their mental health.

A basic level of fitness and mobility is required for this event (to climb the meter rope ladder to board Irene and navigate the spiral staircase once on board).

Please note that Sea Sanctuary Sail HQ is based in central Falmouth. There is no allocated parking but there are a number of car parks and on-street parking nearby. Falmouth Town train station is a five minute walk away.

Only 9 spaces available – early booking advised!
