This Week:

Hot off the press – Mining Searches UK, one of the Club’s Founding Partner Members, started the New Year with the announcement that it has been acquired by leading environmental search specialist, Groundsure.

The Redruth-based business which specialises in historical mining risk, has been collaborating with the Groundsure team for some two years, and the acquisition will mean that the combined business has a broad product set with geo-environmental experts and geospatial data scientists providing advice and information across the spectrum of geo-environmental risks, all the better to continue delivering innovation and meeting the evolving demands of the property market.

Samphire venue, the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth is well on its way to becoming the first plastic-free hotel in Cornwall. The hotel has teamed up with Penryn potter Natalie Bonney and Helston-based luxury beauty brand, Living Sea Therapy, to eliminate all plastic toiletry bottles in its 61 rooms. Bonney, the creator of the new ceramic pots, said it had been one of her most challenging projects to date. “The precision involved to make all the bottles fit a screw threaded pump top and a wall bracket whilst being functional and visually attractive was a challenge,” she admitted. The Greenbank says the new ceramic bottles will save throwing away tens of thousands of single-use plastic bottles a year. The hotel replaced plastic bottles with refillable glass water bottles and eliminated plastic straws and pens in 2019.
